According to Carscoops , this SUV will be a high-riding version of the recently launched AMG GT 4-Door all-electric sedan. It will be built on the all-new AMG.EA platform, specifically designed for Mercedes-AMG's high-performance electric vehicles.
The most notable feature of the electric SUV under development is its three-motor powertrain using engines developed by YASA. The vehicle may be introduced in at least three versions with different engine options.
In its top-of-the-line GT 63 version, the car is said to achieve 1,153 horsepower (860 kW) and a maximum torque of around 2,000 Nm. Thanks to its all-wheel drive system, the SUV can accelerate from 0-96 km/h in just about 2.5 seconds. Even the lower-spec GT 55 version is predicted to have up to 805 horsepower.
Power comes from a 106 kWh battery pack, combined with an 800V voltage architecture, supporting DC fast charging up to 600 kW. According to WLTP standards, the driving range can reach approximately 700 km after each full charge.
Notably, Mercedes-AMG still equips its vehicles with a V8 engine sound and gear shift simulator to provide a driving experience that closely resembles that of a supercar with an internal combustion engine.
From the test images, it's clear that the new SUV inherits many design elements from the all-electric AMG GT sedan, including a low front end, slim LED taillights, hidden door handles, and a sloping coupe-style roofline.
The cockpit is expected to feature a 14-inch digital instrument cluster combined with a 10.2-inch central infotainment screen running the latest MB.OS operating system. The car will also have an augmented reality head-up display, a Burmester 4D sound system, remote software updates, and numerous AI-powered features.
To control weight and improve handling, Mercedes-AMG equips the vehicle with adaptive air suspension, rear-wheel steering, active anti-roll system, and electronic torque distribution.
Mercedes-AMG positions this SUV in the high-performance electric vehicle segment, directly competing with the Porsche Cayenne Electric, Lotus Eletre, and Xiaomi YU7 GT.
The prototype is currently still in the testing phase. The commercial version will most likely be introduced by Mercedes-AMG in early 2027, becoming the second model to use the AMG.EA platform after the all-electric AMG GT sedan.
