Smart coffee farming aims for sustainable efficiency.
Through surveys conducted at model farms in Krông Ana ( Đắk Lắk ), Bảo Thuận and Sơn Lâm communes (Lâm Đồng), the working group noted positive results in the application of smart coffee farming practices. Specifically, the focus was on soil nutrient management, balanced fertilization, and optimizing irrigation water resources to reduce input costs, maintain stable yields, and enhance the coffee plant's resilience to extreme weather events.
According to Dr. Ton Nu Tuan Nam, Member of the Science and Technology Council and Head of the Advisory Board for the Smart Coffee Farming Program, farmers are increasingly concerned about long-term production efficiency. Furthermore, farming should not only aim to increase productivity but also maintain it over time, while simultaneously reducing emissions. These are also key criteria emphasized in the evaluation of models and in preparation for the "Farmers' Talent Competition" in 2027.
