DALLAS — Good news: Prices for the cheapest tickets to Tuesday's World Cup semifinal at Dallas Stadium dropped by 60% since the United States lost in the round of 16.

Bad news: The cheapest ticket on the secondary market still costs more than $1,600 to watch France against Spain in the ninth and final World Cup match in Arlington, Texas, according to ticketing platform StubHub.

The highly anticipated matchup has strong star power with two of the world's brightest, France's Kylian Mbappé and Spain's 18-year-old phenom Lamine Yamal.

The price tag is nearly as expensive as any of the other eight World Cup matches in D-FW, but notably cheaper than ticket prices for the two appearances global superstar Lionel Messi made with Argentina during the group stage.

Before the U.S. exited the tournament with its loss to Belgium in Seattle, the asking price for the semifinal had skyrocketed to some $4,000 as fans salivated over the prospect of a U.S.-France match.

France, which finished second in the 2022 World Cup, beat Morocco 2-0 on Thursday to advance to its third consecutive semifinal in the global event. On Friday, Spain conceded its first goal of the World Cup but beat Belgium 2-1.

Fans who won the FIFA ticketing lottery months ago had the chance to purchase tickets at a fixed price. Now, with the semifinal matchup set for Tuesday, fans are encountering a much different ticketing market. Asking prices on the secondary market remain very high, even with the U.S. team eliminated.

Dallas Stadium is hosting more World Cup matches than any city. The World Cup's other semifinal, Argentina-England, will be played in Atlanta on Wednesday.
