While walking her two beagles, a woman was randomly stopped by her 90-year-old neighbor—what she asked her to do has melted hearts on social media.
In a viral TikTok video shared in January by @sashaprice5, the poster explains: “POV [point of view]: a 90-year-old day stopped me mid dog walk and let me use her garden to let my dogs off.”
The heartwarming clip shows the two pups, wearing a muzzle, enjoying their free run in their neighbor’s yard, happy they don’t have to stick to a leash.
“I walk past her house every time I walk the dogs and I’ll often see her walking around the village. She always stops and talks to me and asks if I can ever let the dogs off (which I can’t, they will never come back). She always offers for me to use her garden to let them run,” the caption reads.
“But today she stood and waited outside her house and insisted I took a look around her garden. So I let them off and she showed me pictures of all her previous dogs she’d owned and told me all about her life and when she used to ride the hounds, sooo sweet of her she made my day.”
While free roaming is fine on a private property, walking dogs on a leash while in the streets keeps things safe for both the pups and the people around them.
If your dog pulls on the leash during walks, there are ways you can train them out of this behavior. Teaching a dog not to pull involves rewarding attention and calm walking.
Begin by standing still with the lead at full length, waiting quietly until your dog looks toward you, then praise and give them a treat. Once focused, walk forward, using your voice and treats to keep them nearby and rewarding loose‑lead walking.
If they wander too far, stop until they return their attention, then reward and continue. Repeat this every time. Keep sessions short and frequent.
When practicing around distractions, stop if your dog pulls and call them back; reaching the toy becomes the reward.
The videohas so far received over 80,000 views and 8,532 likes on the platform.
One user, Em, commented: “You’re both so sweet for doing this, I hope you see each other again.”
