MANILA, Philippines — Park Bo-gum is looking back on one of the most memorable dramas of his career as “Love in the Moonlight” marks its 10th anniversary.
The South Korean actor took to Instagram on Saturday to share nostalgic photos from the filming of the 2016 historical romance drama, giving fans a glimpse of his memories from the set.
“Then, now, and always ‘Love in the Moonlight,’” Park wrote in the caption.
Among the photos, Park can be seen wearing the traditional royal robes of Crown Prince Lee Young, the character he portrayed in the hit series. He also shared behind-the-scenes moments with co-stars Kim You-jung and Kwak Dong-yeon.
Park also posted a photo of a celebratory cake bearing the message, “Forever ‘Gureumi Geurin Dalbit’ 10th anniversary celebration,” referring to the drama’s Korean title, “Moonlight Drawn by Clouds.”
“Love in the Moonlight” premiered on KBS2 on Aug. 22, 2016, and quickly became a nationwide hit in South Korea.
The series achieved a peak nationwide viewership rating of 23.3 percent, according to Nielsen Korea, making it one of the most successful dramas of its time.
Park starred as Crown Prince Lee Young, a charismatic yet occasionally “tsundere” royal who becomes romantically involved with Hong Ra-on, played by Kim You-jung.
The role marked Park’s first leading role in a historical drama and became a major milestone in his acting career. His chemistry with Kim You-jung also became one of the drama’s biggest attractions.
A decade after its premiere, the drama continues to hold a special place among fans, with its cast now set to reunite for a special anniversary program.
KBS2 announced a two-part variety special titled “Love in the Moonlight Re-drawn,” which will begin airing on Sept. 16.
The special will feature Park Bo-gum, Kim You-jung, Jinyoung, Chae Soo-bin and Kwak Dong-yeon as they travel together for two days and one night in Gangwon-do.
The upcoming program is expected to offer fans more than a simple look back at the drama, as the reunion brings the former young cast members together again 10 years after the series first aired.
